As fall settles in, the haunted attractions in Metro Detroit begin to awaken, ready to deliver spine-chilling experiences. Whether you love haunted houses, terrifying hayrides, or immersive horror-themed parks, these attractions are sure to make your heart race. Here are some of the top haunted spots to visit this season…if you dare.

EREBUS HAUNTED ATTRACTION

18 South Perry Street, Pontiac

A towering four-story haunted house located in Pontiac, Erebus has been a Halloween favorite since 2000. Known for its extreme frights and highly detailed sets, Erebus is not for the faint of heart. Visitors are thrown into a labyrinth of terror with monsters lurking around every corner, interactive scares, and special effects that test your courage. If you’re looking for a haunted house experience that pushes the limits, Erebus is the place to go. The attraction holds a Guinness World Record for being the largest walk-through haunted house from 2005 to 2009, and it’s only gotten scarier since! This haunted attraction is not recommended for children under 13, but everyone can enter at their own risk.

SCAREFEST SCREAM PARK

For a complete Halloween experience, check out Scarefest Scream Park. Operations Manager Lauren Marino shares, “In its 18th season, Scarefest Scream Park is more than just a haunted house. Our guests are central to our operation and we have redefined how you spend your time at theme parks. No more standing in line for hours—experience 4 award-winning attractions using a virtual queue. Enjoy food trucks, beer, bonfires, scary movies, carnival games, and more while you wait. You’ll get a text when it’s your turn.” Attractions range from the family-friendly (ages 6+) Hayride of Doom and mid-scare Forest of Darkness and Terror Zone Maze to the most intense Castle of the Dead. ELOISE ASYLUM

30712 Michigan Avenue, Westland

Set in a real-life former psychiatric hospital, Eloise Asylum offers an immersive experience like no other. This haunted attraction transports you into the eerie hallways of a once-functioning mental institution. “The Eloise team has taken every detail into account to ensure visitors will feel the fear and experience the history that surrounds the former Eloise Psychiatric Hospital,” said John Hambrick, owner of Eloise Asylum. “We are working countless hours to create a hauntingly immersive atmosphere that will leave guests breathless.” With a cast of deranged patients and doctors, the asylum is designed to make you question reality and dread every turn of the 54,000-square-foot facility. The building itself adds to the terror, with its long history of hauntings and paranormal activity. For even more scares, check out the High-Intensity Night for an experience you won’t forget. Eloise Asylum is perfect for those looking for a mix of historical horror and psychological scares.

DERANGED HAUNTED ATTRACTION

35560 Goddard Road, Romulus

For fans of outdoor horror, Deranged Haunted Attraction offers five acres of fear in the woods of Romulus. “Deranged Haunt takes you on an adventure deep into the forest with creatures lurking around every corner,” says Mike Fini. “Voted a Top 5 Haunt in recent years by ClickonDetroit, Deranged is known for its relentless actors” and terrifyingly immersive experience. It’s not just about walking through a spooky scene—Deranged puts you right in the middle of the action. Special theme nights every Sunday, such as Classic Monsters, Clown Carnage, and Adults Only 18+ Night, add variety and excitement for those seeking multiple trips to the forest of frights. While there is no set age requirement, Deranged Haunt asks that you use your best judgment on whether your children can handle the experience.

HUSH HAUNTED ATTRACTION

37550 Cherry Hill Road, Westland

Hush Haunted Attraction takes horror to another level with its Hollywood-quality sets, four unique haunted attractions, and three hidden bars. This Westland hotspot throws you into an immersive experience where the boundary between fantasy and reality blurs. From a haunted theater and houses found along mazes, Hush brings together elements of horror, adventure, and mystery on your visit. Attractions are not recommended for those under 12, and those under 16 must be accompanied by someone 21+. For an even more frightening time, Glowstick Fright Nights are set for groups to navigate through the houses using one glow stick to guide their way. Alternatively, for a family-friendly experience, Kid’s Day is held on October 27 for a lights-on event, filled with candy and meet and greets with the monsters onsite. 

WIARD’S NIGHT TERRORS

5565 Merritt Road, Ypsilanti Charter Township

Night Terrors at Wiard’s Orchards is a haunted scream park offering five different attractions at one location. Among its terrifying offerings are, “The Ultimate Haunted Barn, the Asylum, the MindShaft, the Hayride of the Lost, and Alien Caged Clowns in 3D,” shares Travis Hill, Director of Operations. Each attraction promises a different kind of fright, from creepy clowns to haunted hayrides, and they’ve even been ranked among the top 13 hayrides in the country. While you’re waiting for scares, there are bonfires, Scarey-Oke karaoke, and fresh fall snacks from Wiard’s Country Store, like cider slushies, apple fritters, fudge, and more. This spot is recommended for ages 12 and up. If you’re looking for a variety of haunts in one place, Wiard’s Night Terrors is the ultimate destination.

ROTTEN MANOR

13245 Dixie Highway, Holly

Located in Holly, Rotten Manor is known for its detailed sets and hauntingly immersive experiences. Visitors walk through a haunted house, an asylum, a theater, and a forest filled with frights that seem to come to life around every corner, plus a hayride. “We get bigger and better every year,” said Wally and Bob Fruit, the creative minds behind Rotten Manor. With five attractions, there’s plenty to keep you spooked all night long. Additionally, guests can find carnival-themed games and family-friendly activities, but Rotten Manor does ask that those 13 and under be accompanied by someone 18+. From spooky manors to terrifying paths, Rotten Manor is sure to give even the most seasoned haunt fans something to fear.
